President Yoon pledges stronger cooperation with the U.S. and Japan

President Yoon Suk Yeol on May 21 held a trilateral summit with Joe Biden, President of the United States, and Kishida Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, in Hiroshima, Japan, on the sidelines of the Group of 7 (G7) summit. At their talks, the three leaders agreed to develop their three-way cooperation to a new level, presidential spokesperson Lee Do Woon said in a news release. The three leaders in this summit recalled their previous talks during Prime Minister Kishida's visit to the U.S. in January; President Yoon's trip to Japan in March, which opened a new chapter in bilateral ties between Korea and Japan, and his state visit to the U.S. last month; and the Japanese leader's visit to Seoul early this month.

President Yoon arrives in Japan to attend G7 summit

President Yoon Suk Yeol on May 19 arrived in Hiroshima, Japan, to attend the Group of 7 (G7) summit. President Yoon and first lady Kim Keon Hee in the afternoon boarded the presidential plane Code One at Seoul Air Base in Seongnam. The president is the nation's fourth to attend a G7 summit.
