It is a great pleasure to see President Joko Widodo again today. This is our fourth meeting. I am delighted that among the ASEAN leaders, I have met your Excellency the most frequently.

I would like to congratulate you on the successful hosting of the ASEAN Summit under your outstanding leadership.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Indonesia. Our bilateral ties have seen remarkable progress in a wide range of fields, including politics, economy, society and culture. The Republic of Korea will actively support the efforts to achieve your “Golden Indonesia Vision 2045.” I look forward to the continued expansion of bilateral cooperation in electric vehicles, batteries, smart cities and other future industries.

Indonesia is a leading country of ASEAN with immense economic growth capacity. It upholds the rule of law that ensures legal rights based on freedom, democracy and the order of a market economy. For this reason, Indonesia is naturally a key partner in the Republic of Korea’s cooperation with ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region.

I hope to work with Indonesia, our key partner, to seek ways to contribute to freedom, peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
